Dans le cas pr\u00e9sent, il s&#8217;agit de l&#8217;Europe de l&#8217;Est, de 1814 \u00e0 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Il est difficile de justifier que les <em>Masques<\/em> de 1915 de Karel Szymanowski soient des po\u00e8mes de guerre, d&#8217;autant plus que leurs th\u00e8mes sont Scheherezade, Tantris et Don Juan et que le compositeur n&#8217;a jamais port\u00e9 l&#8217;uniforme. De m\u00eame, les deux <em>Polonaises<\/em> opus 40 de Chopin ne sont gu\u00e8re militaristes, m\u00eame si la pianiste Maria Narodytska s&#8217;efforce de rallier ses doigts et si elle colore la ligne de basse d&#8217;une couleur sombre.<\/p>\n<p>Cet album prend tout son sens avec la guerre actuelle en Ukraine \u2013 <em>After<\/em> est une m\u00e9ditation minimaliste de la chanteuse Narodytska, originaire de Kiev, suivie d&#8217;un <em>War Notebook<\/em> vraiment substantiel de son compatriote Artem Liakhovych. Cet ensemble d&#8217;aphorismes culturels cite beaucoup de monde, de J.S. Bach et Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Chopin aux habitants d&#8217;Ouman, ce lieu de saintet\u00e9 et de visions. Le caract\u00e8re al\u00e9atoire des r\u00e9f\u00e9rences est lui-m\u00eame r\u00e9v\u00e9lateur de la mani\u00e8re dont les fragments de musique p\u00e9n\u00e8trent dans notre conscience en contexte de guerre.<\/p>\n<p>Narodytska joue les morceaux avec une empathie qui reste \u00e0 la limite de l&#8217;hyperintensit\u00e9. Son dernier morceau est la deuxi\u00e8me sonate de Dimitri Chostakovitch et, soudain, tout l&#8217;album prend un sens. En 1943, Chostakovitch a dit dans cette sombre sonate tout ce qu&#8217;il ne pouvait pas mettre en mots.
