Il regroupe trois compositeurs fran\u00e7ais des trois derniers si\u00e8cles \u2212 le compositeur d&#8217;op\u00e9ras de cour Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764), le misanthrope juif Charles-Valentin Alkan (1813-88) et le c\u00e9libataire basque Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) \u2212 qui n&#8217;ont jamais, \u00e0 ma connaissance, \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9unis dans un m\u00eame programme.<\/p>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 la langue maternelle commune, les trois ma\u00eetres parlent des langues musicales diff\u00e9rentes. Rameau \u00e9crit pour le clavecin avec un enjouement baroque. Alkan s&#8217;efforce d&#8217;\u00eatre plus injouable que Liszt. Ravel habite une solitude oc\u00e9anique, quelque part entre l&#8217;impressionnisme et le modernisme. La combinaison semble, en th\u00e9orie, follement excitante.<\/p>\n<p>En pratique, moins. Rameau sur un piano \u00e0 queue de concert moderne (Fazioli ?) n&#8217;est pas le vrai Rameau, mais un hybride Clavecin-sinistre, redessin\u00e9 pour les sc\u00e8nes de cin\u00e9ma. Sa c\u00e9l\u00e8bre <em>Gavotte<\/em> perd son charme courtois et <em>Les Sauvages<\/em> est loin de sa premi\u00e8re nation.<\/p>\n<p>Les deux morceaux d&#8217;Alkan sont la <em>Barcarolle<\/em> et le <em>Festin d&#8217;\u00c9sope<\/em>, relativement peu exigeants, et tous deux con\u00e7us pour sonner plus chopinesques que v\u00e9h\u00e9ments. Il n&#8217;y a que dans les <em>Miroirs<\/em> de Ravel que l&#8217;idiome est parfait, mais ici, Liu, qui est n\u00e9 \u00e0 P\u00e9kin et a grandi au Canada, affronte des g\u00e9ants du disque \u2212 Ashkenazy, Richter, Gieseking, C\u00e9cile Ousset, Samson Fran\u00e7ois, Thibaudet, Pierre-Laurent Aimard \u2212, une concurrence d\u00e9loyale pour un d\u00e9butant.<\/p>\n<p>S&#8217;il existait un prix pour la table des mati\u00e8res, cette parution l&#8217;emporterait haut la main. Ce n&#8217;est que dans le fabuleux <em>Festin<\/em> d&#8217;Alkan que l&#8217;on peut entrevoir la direction que pourrait prendre Bruce Liu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La combinaison semble, en th\u00e9orie, follement excitante.
