Les deux morceaux offrent aux auditeurs une belle charge d\u2019\u00e9nergie, class\u00e9e \u00e0 juste titre comme mozartienne plut\u00f4t que beethov\u00e9nienne, en raison de leur style de composition et de l\u2019articulation de leur interpr\u00e9tation. Le son de Fontana est toujours vital et pr\u00e9sent et les lignes m\u00e9lodiques de Ceccato sont toujours cantabile et chaleureuses. L\u2019album s\u2019ouvre sur la <i>Sonate en fa majeur<\/i>, opus 5. Le premier mouvement, bien qu\u2019\u00e9tant un Adagio, communique une certaine attitude positive, affirm\u00e9e par l\u2019\u00e9clat mesur\u00e9 de l\u2019Allegro qui suit. Le dernier mouvement, un Allegro vif, est le point culminant rythmique de l\u2019ensemble de l\u2019\u0153uvre et est extr\u00eamement virtuose.<\/p>\n<p>Les 12 variations sur <i>See, the Conqu\u2019ring Hero Comes!<\/i>, sans num\u00e9ro d\u2019opus, sont un exemple parfait de la fa\u00e7on dont un simple th\u00e8me de caract\u00e8re m\u00e9lodique pur peut permettre de d\u00e9ployer un grande virtuosit\u00e9. C\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment ce que font Ceccato et Fontana : la brillance rythmique des voix et le phras\u00e9 m\u00e9lodique t\u00e9moignent d\u2019une remarquable compr\u00e9hension du r\u00e9pertoire. Fontana alterne des moments d\u2019hyperarticulation avec un grand \u00e9lan m\u00e9lodique; Ceccato, quant \u00e0 lui, fait preuve d\u2019une intonation impeccable et d\u2019une habilet\u00e9 remarquable. Cette s\u00e9rie de variations a un caract\u00e8re presque op\u00e9ratique, avec des sections qui rappellent des arias et d\u2019autres des r\u00e9citatifs \u2013 ou ailleurs, un semblant de dialogue entre plusieurs personnages. La m\u00e9lodie est la caract\u00e9ristique principale de l\u2019\u0153uvre, ce qui la rend bien adapt\u00e9e aux deux sonates avec lesquelles elle est jumel\u00e9e. L\u2019album se termine par la <i>Sonate en sol mineur<\/i>, opus 5, n\u00b0 2. Elle s\u2019ouvre \u00e9galement sur un Adagio, ici dramatique et sombre, \u00e9quilibr\u00e9 par l\u2019Allegro final. Ce disque nous offre un Beethoven diff\u00e9rent de celui que nous connaissons et aimons; au lieu de ses sonates pour piano ou de ses symphonies bien connues, les auditeurs ont droit \u00e0 de la musique galante. Le travail des musiciens est remarquable, tant par sa coh\u00e9sion que par les choix d\u2019articulation et de phras\u00e9.
