Pourtant, la gamme majeure contient un fa, ce qui ne concorde plus avec le principe, d\u2019o\u00f9 le constat qu\u2019il faut jouer une gamme de do \u00e0 do comportant plut\u00f4t un fa#. (Essayez ces notes en quinte au piano\u00a0: en jouant le fa d\u2019abord, on se rend compte qu\u2019il d\u00e9tonne avec les autres, alors qu\u2019un second essai avec un fa# sera consonant. Cette nouvelle gamme, que l\u2019on appelle lydienne, d\u00e9signe en fait un mode musical issu de la Gr\u00e8ce antique, comme du reste la gamme majeure, appel\u00e9e ionienne. Autrement dit\u00a0: la fondamentale de la s\u00e9quence de notes de do \u00e0 do n\u2019est pas do, mais fa.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #303234;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Pour contextualiser sa proposition musicale dans le temps, les musiques occidentales de l\u2019Apr\u00e8s-Guerre \u00e9taient confront\u00e9es par un syst\u00e8me radical qui cong\u00e9diait toute la tradition existante de la musique dite tonale. La nouvelle approche, qualifi\u00e9e d\u2019atonale, n\u2019avait plus comme base des \u00e9chelles de notes successives [ou gammes], mais int\u00e9grait tous les douze tons [dits chromatiques]dans des s\u00e9quences de hauteurs variables. Ce faisant, le syst\u00e8me abolissait toute hi\u00e9rarchie entre les sons ainsi que les rapports et fonctions harmoniques qui les gouvernaient, niant de ce fait sa mise en application dans les musiques populaires [folklores et jazz], chacune se d\u00e9finissant par une couleur propre et, de ce fait, distincte des autres. Nul n\u2019ait besoin, par exemple, d\u2019avoir une oreille affin\u00e9e pour percevoir la diff\u00e9rence entre une musique japonaise, hispanique, slave ou un blues.
