Lorsqu&#8217;il entendait un morceau qu&#8217;il admirait, Liszt en faisait une transcription pour piano. C&#8217;est pour les nouveaux airs italiens de Bellini et de Donizetti qu&#8217;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 le plus applaudi, mais Liszt a toujours eu un z\u00e8le de missionnaire et a introduit des symphonies compl\u00e8tes de Beethoven dans les petites villes o\u00f9 aucun orchestre professionnel ne jouait.<\/p>\n<p>Sa partition de l&#8217;<em>Eroica<\/em> de Beethoven est \u00e0 la fois inspirante et d\u00e9routante, une repr\u00e9sentation fid\u00e8le des th\u00e8mes de Beethoven sans les subtilit\u00e9s de la texture. Peu de pianistes y parviennent sans que l&#8217;auditeur ne se sente l\u00e9s\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Wee, un avocat londonien dot\u00e9 d&#8217;une technique de clavier ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nale, donne tout ce qu&#8217;il a dans la partition de l&#8217;<em>Eroica<\/em> de Liszt\/Beethoven, et c&#8217;est peut-\u00eatre un peu trop. Il joue vite et fort dans le premier mouvement, obtenant un impact sans grande p\u00e9n\u00e9tration, une propulsion sans cet ind\u00e9finissable Schwung qu&#8217;un chef d&#8217;orchestre apporte \u00e0 la partition. Il est, bien s\u00fbr, beaucoup plus facile de simuler un petit orchestre de Mozart sur un piano solo que de lancer un des gros morceaux de Beethoven, mais Alkan le fait avec une telle finesse \u2212 et Wee joue avec une telle empathie \u2212 que l&#8217;on peut difficilement imaginer une meilleure interpr\u00e9tation du concerto avec un orchestre complet. Alkan, avec seulement deux mains, parvient \u00e0 diff\u00e9rencier la ligne de piano de l&#8217;accompagnement orchestral, et Wee maintient la conversation avec une conviction infaillible. Rendre \u00e0 Mozart sa grandeur ? Alkan le fait, de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que Liszt.
