Le Larghetto, bas\u00e9 sur le cadre choral du Psaume 51 de MacMillan, passe d&#8217;un point de d\u00e9part Miserere \u00e0 quelque chose de tout \u00e0 fait plus encourageant, un optimisme organique qui transcende les malheurs actuels et regarde vers l&#8217;\u00e9ternit\u00e9 brillante. En legato, par exemple, l&#8217;ancien violoniste de l&#8217;Orchestre philharmonique de Vienne modifie sa pratique normale consistant \u00e0 faire en sorte que les cordes s&#8217;inclinent ensemble en faveur de mouvements d&#8217;archet plus rapides, produisant un son multicouche plus conforme \u00e0 la riche texture de Brahms.<\/p>\r\n<p>Son approche de la symphonie est d\u00e9cid\u00e9ment moins tape-\u00e0-l&#8217;\u0153il que la norme, et d&#8217;autant plus satisfaisante par le fait m\u00eame. Contrairement aux baguettes plus bruyantes, Honeck permet \u00e0 la symphonie d&#8217;\u00e9voluer des racines vers le haut, tout \u00e0 fait \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re de la neuvi\u00e8me symphonie de Beethoven dans laquelle Brahms \u00e9tait \u00e9motionnellement si ancr\u00e9. Les connexions sont inavouables tout au long de cette performance \u00e9clairante.<\/p>\r\n<p>Apr\u00e8s deux ans sans entendre Brahms en direct, je trouve cette prestation r\u00e9paratrice dans tous les sens du terme, avec une touche de Carlos Kleiber dans les tournants.
