Organ Festival Canada (Jour 1)

Three performances

1:00 – 1: 30: David Enlow has performed on the largest organ in New York City, with 205 ranks, in a wonderful acoustic. He is a consummate musician who has performed all over the world.

3:00 – 3:00: Andrew Adair performs Healey Willan’s Five Plainsong Preludes on the organ for which they were written. During his tenure at St. Mary Magdalene, Willan had the console moved into the choir loft, as well as adding a Tuba to the existing 27 ranks. Although the organ has since been enlarged to 51 stops, Andrew Adair as the resident organist is highly sympathetic to Willan’s style. Hear these preludes in a performance very much in the spirit of the composer.

4:00 – 4:30: Isabelle Demers will make a rare attempt of performing Stravinsky’s Second Suite of 1919, transcribed by her for the instrument. This exciting and sensuous music will be performed at St. Martin’s in Houston on the 106 rank Schoenstein organ. Mendelssohn’s Overture from St. Paul is a dramatic piece that makes technical demands on the player, and will be played on the Letourneau organ at Baylor University.

All performances viewable on-demand till Sept. 30. Registration gives access to all concerts of the day. Daily passes include access to all the day’s events, including performances, workshops, masterclasses, and competitions. Visit the festival website for details.
