“His ability could be measured by Chopin’s standards” says Zoltán Kocsis (Chief conductor, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra)… Hungarian born Tamás Érdi is “a virtuoso with exceptional talent” according to Antoni Grudziński (former president of Fryderyk Chopin Association)… “he achieves a depth of feeling and a power of expression for which the word ‘remarkable’ seems inadequate”, writes Thomas McClain of the American Record Guide.
Tamás Érdi lost his eyesight as a result of oxygen overdose in a defective incubator. He began playing the piano at age of five and was only eight years old, when he first appeared on a concert podium. His tutors, Erika Becht and Gabor Eckhardt used a unique method called ‘the structural method’ to teach him piano, whereby he virtually ‘recomposes’ the music he is being introduced to. This process has enabled him to learn many piano scores as well as sixteen concertos without the use of eyesight or sheet music.

Tamás Érdi a perdu la vue dû à une surdose d’oxygène d’un incubateur défectueux. Il a commencé à jouer au piano à l’âge de cinq ans, à huit ans il a fait sa première apparition sur le podium de concert. Ses enseignants, Erika Becht et Gábor Eckhardt ont utilisé une méthode unique appelée « la méthode structurelle » par laquelle il « recompose » virtuellement la musique qu’il l’est présentée. Ce processus l’a permis d’apprendre de nombreuses notations et seize concertos sans utiliser de vue et de partition.
