A versatile and passionate musician, Montréal’s Mathieu Gaudet has pursued a remarkable career as a soloist, chamber musician, and conductor for the past twenty years. He commands a vast repertoire of works and has performed across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. His concerts are regularly broadcast on both French and English CBC and he has made several recordings. His much-admired recordings for Analekta of Franz Schubert’s piano sonatas established, beyond doubt, that he is one of the world’s greatest Schubert interpreters. The 19th-century Austrian Schubert was a key figure in bridging the Classical and Romantic periods and is noted for the melody and harmony in his compositions. For this in-person recital, Gaudet will perform Schubert’s early Sonata No. 1 in E Major, D. 157, the profound Sonata No. 13 in A Minor, D. 784, Impromptu in D Minor and E♭Major D. 899 Nos. 1 and 2 considered to be among the most important examples of this popular early 19th-century genre, and the technically-demanding Fantasy in C Major (Wanderer), D. 760.

Musicien polyvalent et passionné, le Montréalais Mathieu Gaudet poursuit depuis vingt ans une remarquable carrière de soliste, de chambriste et de chef d’orchestre. Il possède un vaste répertoire d’œuvres et s’est produit partout au Canada, aux États-Unis, en Europe et en Asie. Ses concerts sont régulièrement diffusés sur les ondes de la CBC en français et en anglais et il a réalisé plusieurs enregistrements. Ses enregistrements très appréciés des sonates pour piano de Franz Schubert pour Analekta ont établi, sans aucun doute, qu’il est l’un des plus grands interprètes de Schubert au monde. L’Autrichien du 19e siècle Schubert a été une figure clé de la transition entre les périodes classique et romantique et est réputé pour la mélodie et l’harmonie de ses compositions. Lors de ce récital en personne, M. Gaudet interprétera la Sonate no 1 en mi majeur, D. 157, la profonde Sonate no 13 en la mineur, D. 784, les Impromptus en ré mineur et en mi♭majeur, D. 899, nos 1 et 2, considérés comme les exemples les plus importants de ce genre populaire du début du XIXe siècle, ainsi que la Fantaisie en do majeur (Wanderer), D. 760, très exigeante sur le plan technique.
