An exceptional Montreal Premiere
In Recital
In 2015 the French pianist Lucas Debargue became the most talked-about artist of the 15 th International Tchaikovsky
Despite being placed 4 th , his muscular and intellectual playing, combined with an intensely poetic and lyrical gift for
phrasing, earned him the coveted Moscow Music Critics’ Award as ”the pianist whose incredible gift, artistic vision
and creative freedom have impressed the critics as well as the audience”. He was the only musician across all
disciplines to do so.
The world instantly took note of this startling and original new talent. “There hasn’t been a foreign pianist who has
caused such a stir since Glenn Gould’s arrival in Moscow, or Van Cliburn’s victory at the Tchaikovsky Competition,”
The Huffington Post.
He has since toured the world with the finest orchestras and most celebrated conductors
This is Lucas Debargue in a few words :
“A pianistic phenomenon”
“As passionate as atypical”
A poetic genius… a one-of- a-kind artist!

The program reflects the many facets of his immense talent
Scarlatti:  2 sonatas – A major and  D minor –
Chopin: Scherzo No. 1 and 2, Barcarolle in F sharp major,  “Heroic” Polonaise
Fauré: 2 Barcarolles – A minor and A flat major
Ravel: Gaspard de la Nuit
This prestigious recital is sure to go down as a landmark of excellence. A genius of this sort rarely crosses our path.
