Dans la foulée d’un premier hommage rendu à la voix rassembleuse de ce grand compositeur et pédagogue canadien en janvier dernier, l’ECM+, l’Ensemble Paramirabo et le Conservatoire s’unissent à nouveau pour célébrer sa musique s’adjoignant cette fois les forces vives du quintette à vent Choros, des cuivres de Magnitude6 et de deux solistes réputés. Vincent Ranallo à la voix et Louise Bessette au piano seront les solistes du mystérieux À quelle heure commence le temps ? accompagnés par un ensemble de 15 musiciens dirigé par Véronique Lacroix. Aussi au coeur de ce programme tout Tremblay, Le Signe du Lion, Le sifflement des vents porteurs de l’amour et la reprise du Triojubilus.

Following the success of their first tribute to this great Canadian composer and teacher last January, the ECM+, Paramirabo and the Conservatoire once more present his music. The winds of Choros Quintet, the brasses of Magnitude6 and two renowned soloists joins them this year to celebrate this long a leading figure of new music. The program of À quelle heure commence le temps ? features baritone Vincent Ranallo and pianist Louise Bessette as soloists, accompanied by an ensemble of 15 musicians conducted by Véronique Lacroix. Also at the heart of this Tremblay program Le Signe du Lion, Le sifflement des vents porteurs de l’amour and Triojubilus.

A coproduction of the ECM+, Paramirabo, Choros, Magnitude6, the soloists, Louise Bessette and Vincent Ranallo and the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.

More than an ensemble, ECM+ produces innovative, multidisciplinary concerts and showcases Canadian musical creation throughout the country. Renowned for her flair and her appetite for risk-taking, artistic director Véronique Lacroix is passionate about creation and, with her musicians, is helping to foster the next generation of composers. Since it was founded in 1987, ECM+ has premiered 246 mostly Canadian works. Its productions have garnered prestigious awards, including the 2002 Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal, the 2002 Prix Opus for Musical Event of the Year, and the 2007 Prix Opus for Artistic Direction of the Year. In addition to its regular season’s productions, ECM+ has toured Canada with the Generation project every two years since 2000. Moreover, the ensemble has participated in international exchanges with France, Belgium, Mexico, Ukraine, and Singapore. ECM+ has performed at 21C Music Festival of Toronto, Festival Internacional Cervantino, Montreal/New Music Festival, Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, Montreal Chamber Music Festival, Québec’s Musiques au present festival, Toronto’s Massey Hall New Music Festival, and Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville. The ensemble has released ten CDs, and its concerts were regularly broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI Musique and CBC Radio Two. ECM+ is in residence at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal since 1998.
