Music and Beyond has announced that one of the two concerts with renowned pianist Gregory Charles, which was to have taken place on July 14th, has been postponed. His other performance scheduled for the festival will still take place on July 13th.

The festival also announced that his program, An Evening with Gregory Charles, will be part of next year’s festival and has been confirmed for July 9th, 2018.

Replacing Gregory Charles on July 14th will be the exceptionally talented Quebec pianist Guillaume Martineau, a former student of Menahem Pressler. Martineau is one of the few pianists anywhere who performs classical and jazz repertoire with equal ease.

Ticket holders for the July 14th Gregory Charles show may exchange their tickets for his appearance on July 13, 2017, his appearance on July 9, 2018, Guillaume Martineau’s recital on July 14th or Andre-Philippe Gagnon on July 15, 2017. Music and Beyond will also refund ticket holders who are not able to attend any of these three concerts.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that Gregory is still able to do one of his shows at Music and Beyond” states the festival’s artistic director, Julian Armour. “Gregory is one of the most remarkably gifted musicians I know. His talent appears to have no limits. He plays every style of music and he is truly a great personality – on-stage and off. It is wonderful to know that he will be one of our great highlights both this year and next. Music lovers should absolutely not miss his concert on July 13!”

Named Revelation Radio-Canada 2015-2016 in jazz, Guillaume Martineau is quickly gaining a reputation as one of Canada’s most versatile and creative pianists. Winner of first prize at the 2009 Canadian Music Competition, he has a master’s degree in classical music from McGill University. After meeting pianist Oliver Jones in Montreal, he decided to make a leap into jazz. His Ottawa recital on July 14th will feature both classical and jazz works. The concert will take place at Dominion-Chalmers United Church and starts at 7:30 pm.
